Getting Started as a New Client
Step 1: Reach Out to Clarity
If you are interested in setting up the integration, you will first need to reach out to Clarity to get started. A client success manager (CSM) at Clarity will assist you and walk you through the onboarding process.
⚠️ Important Note for FACTS Clients
There are additional steps that need to be taken for schools utilizing the FACTS integration before the Clarity integration can be enabled. Submit a request to Finalsite Enrollment support for assistance.
Step 2: Set Up the Integration & Billing Mapping in Finalsite Enrollment
Your Clarity client success manager (CSM) will ask you to enable the integration in Finalsite and send them the API Credentials. To do this, navigate to your Clarity Tuition Integration page, under Settings > Fields & Data > Clarity Tuition Integration.

Billing Category Mapping: Select an existing Billing Category from the list. This is where the system will automatically link the new contract fees for your awards.

- Click the Enable button.
Step 3: Copy the API Credentials
Once you click Enable, a dialog box will appear. Copy the Credential ID and API Secret.
After closing out of the dialogue box, you can also find these credentials in the View Details menu under the Actions column.

Within this window, you will also see the following buttons:
- Generate JWT: Click this button to generate a short-lived JWT that can be used for making API calls.
- Regenerate Secret: Click this button if you need to regenerate the API Secret.
Step 4: Send the Credentials to Clarity
After copying the credentials, you will send them to Clarity via their Google Form. Your Clarity CSM will be automatically notified once you've submitted the form. Do not email credentials, as email is not a secure way to share this sensitive information.
The data sync activates the moment Clarity enables the integration. You don’t need to wait for the optional checklist to be completed for the sync to begin. We recommend checking your student records in Finalsite now to confirm the data is flowing as expected.
Important Note on Data Syncing
The Finalsite Enrollment fields synced with Clarity will update automatically when changes are made in Finalsite Enrollment. For example, if a New student is moved to Returning in Finalsite Enrollment, the student's Finalsite Enrollment Type will also be updated to Returning in Clarity after the next sync.
However, statuses are stored separately, so neither status will override the other. If a student's status is changed in one system, it will not be automatically updated in the other system. If you need assistance merging a conflict, reach out to your Clarity CSM or submit a request to Finalsite Enrollment support.
Data from Clarity will sync with Finalsite Enrollment automatically every hour, with a manual sync option available through Clarity.

Step 5: Create the Clarity Checklist Item in Finalsite Enrollment (Optional)
For schools that require families to complete the Clarity financial aid application, please follow the steps below in Finalsite Enrollment to prepare the Clarity checklist item. The item can be added to the Admissions checklist and/or Enrollment checklist. To learn more about creating checklist items, visit Checklist Overview.
- Navigate to your Admissions or Enrollment Checklist, under Settings > Checklists.
- Use the term-picker drop-down menu to select the term you are working in.
- Click Add a new checklist item in the top left.
- Within the Checklist Item Details window, you will create the new item. For Item Type, select Clarity Tuition Integration.
- We recommend adding a Parent Explanation with instructions for families to follow.
- If you would like to add business rules to only show the item to a specific group of families, submit a request to our Support team for assistance.
- Once you've set up the item, click Submit to save your changes.
Enabling Individual Awards For Existing Clients
If you are already using the Clarity integration with the Clarity Awarded Amount total field and contract fee, and wish to move from a single total amount to individual awards:
- Navigate to the Clarity Tuition Integration page (Settings > Fields & Data > Clarity Tuition Integration)

Select an existing Billing Category from the list. This is where the system will automatically link the new contract fees for your awards.
- Need to set up a new Billing Category? Visit the article “Billing Categories” to learn how to create a new category.
- Click the Enable Individual Awards button. Once selected, you will see a message indicating that the action was successful, and the button will disappear from the page.
⚠️ Important Note for Existing Clients
- Enabling individual awards will automatically disable the legacy Clarity Awarded Amount contract fee and replace it with individual award fees on the Contract Fees page. This change is permanent and will affect live contracts immediately.
- The Clarity Awarded Amount field will continue to pull the total amount into Finalsite from Clarity and display on the student record under the Enrollment tab.
- The system is designed to show either the total award or individual awards on a contract to prevent duplicating the financial aid amount.
