The Review Module packages each applicant's submitted forms, documents, and notes into a single read-ready packet that reviewers can score and the admissions committee can use for decisions. Setup covers what documents go into the packet, what fields show on the candidate cover sheet, the rating criteria, list columns and filters for reviewers, decision types, and who has reviewer access. Schools customize the workflow heavily, so the system supports both continuous rolling review and time-windowed committee processes.
💡Quick Answers
- What are the two phases of the review process? Reading (individual reviewers scoring candidates) and Committee Decisions (the group acting on those scores to make admissions decisions).
- What can I configure in Review Settings? Documents included in the review packet (see Documents for Review), the candidate cover sheet fields (Candidate Cover Sheet), rating criteria and scale (Rating Criteria), reviewer list columns and filters (List Columns and Filters), and decision recommendation types (Preliminary Decision Types).
- How do I add reviewers to my school? Assign Reader permissions to existing users, or set up new users specifically as Readers. See Assign Reader Permissions to Users.
- Can a school run reviews continuously instead of in batches? Yes. The module supports both continuous reading as applications complete and a defined review window. Workflow is driven by your school's process rather than a fixed system pattern.
- Does the Review Module replace the regular admissions checklist? No. Reviews layer on top of the admissions process. A candidate moves to Review in Progress status automatically once at least one reader is assigned to them.
- Who sees what during review? Reader account types see only the candidates assigned to them and cannot see other reviewers' feedback. Admins and System Admins can see all reviews. See Admin Roles and Permissions for the access matrix.
Review Process
The Review Process consists of 2 primary phases:
- Reading
- Committee Decisions
Schools vary greatly in who plays a role in both reading and the decision phase. Additionally, schools also vary whether they continuously read and score as applications are completed, or whether there is a more defined window in which reading takes place. The Finalsite Enrollment system facilitates a wide manner of processes.
